Away at a conference with the most un-academic back drops ever.

The rooms in Clare College Cambridge knock Goodricke/Vanburgh for, oh, about a million. Two bedroom suite, comfy chairs, internet. I was tempted to not bother leaving to go to the conference, but the walk to breakfast was certainly worth leaving for

I also have to confess that I've finally seen the point of twitter. When you're at a conference, and people are putting out stuff being able to see a live feed filtered by the conference tag makes for a good way for finding out what's going on and for quick feedback. Makes the Guardian's move make more sense. Please note however that this is not a call for people to import their twitterings into LJ. That's still annoying.

Abi went to St John's College, Cambridge last year for a conference on poverty. The irony of the grand surroundings and the extremely nice dinners was not lost on very many of the delegates.

You've got the weather for it, though today is a little more murky and Fen like.

There is a certain irony in the truncation of you tags!

From the first picture, it looks like you're the only one there, or were they all sitting at the back?
